Dragons Zero Tackle

The Dragons have a long road ahead of them and if there’s one thing that is clear it’s that their board must change the way they run this club. There’s no doubt they needed to sack Anthony Griffin and hire Jason Ryles to get the Dragons back into the top eight, but it was their blanket refusal to give him control over the club which was a massive mistake.

The dithering over the GM of football role and who the head of recruitment was was never good, but to completely turn away from giving Ryles control was an absolute disgrace. He deserved better than to be treated like that in a club who has only played finals twice in over a decade.

Ultimately the Dragons will have to look outside their club for a coach if they want to get back into the finals. They have two decent young halves in Talatau Amone and Jayden Sullivan, both of whom should be given every chance to prove that they can handle the pressure of starting at halfback for an NRL side.

It would also be a big mistake to let Ben Hunt leave unless the Dragons were prepared to take a big hit on salary to free up some space elsewhere. He is easily the Dragons best player on-ground this year, he’s running over 100 metres a game, kicking almost 285 and making more tackles than anyone else in their team.
