Dragons Riders of Berk Season 1 Review

Dragons Riders of Berk is a great spin off from the How to Train Your Dragon movie. It’s funny, fun and sometimes weak but overall a great show to watch. The first season bridges the events of How to Train Your Dragon and the second movie and is a fun ride for anyone who loves DreamWorks Animation.

When a girl named Heather washes ashore, Hiccup is immediately intrigued by her looks and charm. While the gang welcomes her, Astrid becomes suspicious of her motives. She is particularly concerned when Heather takes a vested interest in the dragon academy. She also discovers that she has a rare and valuable ancient Book of Dragons.

Meanwhile, Dagur has returned to Berk in a rage and lays siege to Dragons’ Edge. When Ruffnut and Belch start fighting, the Viking teenagers have to bring them back together to control their dragons in order not to provoke Dagur into canceling the peace treaty.

The Dragon Riders are concerned that the Outcast tribe will use their new dragon-training knowledge to bolster an attack on their village, so Hiccup and Stoick institute flight restrictions at the Dragon Flight Academy. But Fishlegs and Gobber are convinced that it’s not a serious threat. They decide to hold a “competition” for the best dragon trainer and give each kid a Terrible Terror dragon.

But when the kids are given the choice between a Nightmare or a Gronckle, they all choose the former because it’s more intimidating and powerful. They soon find themselves facing an old friend of the Outcasts named Mildew, who is imprisoned by Alvin and has been tasked with training a Whispering Death dragon.
