After discovering worlds and dragon species beyond the Archipelago, Hiccup and Toothless charted their own course and found a new home on the island called Dragons of the Edge. A day’s flight from Berk, it’s part clubhouse, part launching pad for their new missions into strange lands and against even stranger menaces. The outpost has huts designed to reflect the personalities of each Dragon Rider, as well as shared areas like a domed training arena and a stone lookout tower.
The dragons of the Edge also have their own native defense system in a flock known as the Night Terrors, who fly in formation to assume the shape of larger predatory dragons in order to ward off seaborne danger. The Dragon Riders also use tall poles with white canopies to watch the waters around the outpost.
When a wild Rumblehorn wrecks havoc on the outpost, Hiccup calls in Stoick to calm the beast. Heather joins the team, but her sarcasm and quick temper make it difficult for them to get along at first. Meanwhile, Fishlegs and Meatlug liberate a pack of Gronckles from the menacing monster Tormentor in “Quake, Rattle and Roll.”
Astrid’s hut is a haven of peace and learning. Its garden features a waterfall and an ornate dragon statue. The Dragon Riders can also relax in her secluded pond surrounded by rocks, and she has a small library with books about magic, nature, and dragons.
