Dragons – A Fantasy Made Real

dragons a fantasy made real

The world was once home to four awe-inspiring species of dragon that breathed fire. Sadly, their existence was cut short by Middle Age man who wiped them out and buried them in myth and legend.

In this fantasy docudrama, modern renegade scientist Dr. Tanner (Paul Hilton) attempts to prove the existence of dragons by using paleontological evidence. A series of interwoven stories explores the lives of these creatures in prehistoric times as well as present day.

Early in the film, a carbonised Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton is displayed at the Natural History Museum in London. It is then discovered that the skeleton was actually killed by a prehistoric dragon and Tanner’s reputation is damaged.

During a flashback, it is revealed that the Tyrannosaurus rex did in fact battle a Prehistoric Dragon in the Cretaceous and was mortally wounded. In a later vignette the Dragon, now an adult, challenges a dominant male in a sky duel and succeeds.

The Prehistoric Dragon was a victim of the K-T extinction event, but its cousin the Marine Dragon escaped by being protected by the ocean. It then evolved into the Chinese Forest Dragon, which has smaller wings and gliding abilities.

The Mountain Dragon, however, is the last of its kind and is believed to have died out when the dragon father disappeared. Despite this, it is shown that the mother dragon and her daughter are the last to survive by raiding human farms for food and livestock.
