Dragon Universe by Angus McBride (Dungeons & Dragons)

dragon universe

Dragons are omnipresent throughout the world, and their might is legendary. This magnificent book gathers the work of a virtual who’s who of fantasy artists, including Paul Bonner (of Dungeons & Dragons), Angus McBride (Lord of the Rings), Todd Lockwood (Dungeons & Dragons) and Tom Kidd, among many others. It’s a gorgeous collection of dazzling artwork that captures every majestic and fearsome detail of these magnificent scaly behemoths.

According to the story, there are twelve different Dragon Universes. Each one is set within a sphere known as the macrocosm, which is divided into an afterlife and living world. The macrocosm is shaped like the kanji for “all” (represented as Q on the robe worn by Omni-King). On each of its four sides are planets that represent the afterlife and living worlds.

During the Majin Boo story arc, Gohan and Vegito discover that they can unlock new levels by visiting the Kaioshin Realm. While it is never explicitly stated, this is assumed to be a world of rocky plains and blood-red water, since Bobbidi teleported Dabra and his other henchmen there after their fight with Gohan and Vegeta.

It is also where the God of Destruction, Beerus, lives, on a small planet that floats high above the tail end of the Serpent Road. In this world, the Kaioshin live in simple one-room houses, and they can use their godly powers to watch the living world of Universe 7. Beerus used to live on a larger planet, but after losing to him in a video game, he took a leftover fragment, whittled it into a sphere, built himself a car, and created his current planet.
