Aired on Anime Television Network in the United States, Dragon Maid Season 2 follows the exploits of our main female protagonist, Chiffon Enjuerra, who continues to battle the evil forces threatening her home and everyone she cares about. First introduced as a fantasy-adventure series, Dragon Maid has quickly become one of the most popular anime shows in Japan, with a large fan base outside of Japan. Season two promises even greater things for this classic anime series. In fact, the second half of the first episode already looks to be a major evolution of the franchise, moving away from its fantasy world and into a much more solid plot featuring real-life romantic leads. If you like fantasy romances with a touch of romance and wish to see a different take on the classic anime heroines, then this is definitely a show you’ll want to check out.
Unlike other animated Japanese TV series, Dragon Maid Season 2 doesn’t have a great deal of background music, instead relying on peaceful, melodic songs and voice-overs to tell the story, creating an atmosphere that is both light-hearted and dreamy at the same time. This first season was not a big hit with me, but I believe its second half will be. Some people have mentioned that the second half contains some of the best animation that they’ve seen on an anime series, so if you’re tired of the same scenes, this may be the series for you!
What’s also interesting about Dragon Maid Season 2 is that it continues to use the “cut scene” technique, where a quick shot of a character from the past is shown in the beginning of each episode, giving the audience a peek into what future actions may happen. This means that if you haven’t watched any of the previous episodes, you can actually gain some catching up before watching the latest one. Many anime fans have expressed that the cut scene technique is actually their favorite part of the show, and not surprising given the attention to detail that was put into the first half of the first episode. Dragon maid season 2 is currently streaming online for fans to enjoy.
