Dragon demon soul
As the first archdemon you’ll get (an area’s final boss) the dragon is a bit of a disappointment. While this boss fight can be fun on a first playthrough, it quickly becomes tiresome as the player sits behind pillars and waits for the dragon to look away or knock down the obstacles blocking their way. This type of sneaky, puzzle based encounter is rarely as satisfying as a more combat heavy encounter like that of the Flamelurker.
The best way to kill this dragon is with a bow. Grab your best bow and stock up on arrows. When the dragon opens it’s eyes, fire away. This will quickly whittle it down to nothing.
You can also use projectile magic to clear the debris blocking your path or to break down the ballistas on the side of the ruins. While this is less fun, it can be very effective. Just be sure to use a fast cast so that you don’t miss your shot.
The dragon demon soul is worth keeping if you’re a mage as it can be traded for the Fireball spell from Sage Freke, the Firestorm spell from Yuria, the Witch or the God’s Wrath miracle from Saint Urbain. The other option is to trade it for the Dozer Axe from Blacksmith Ed in Stonefang Tunnel as it can be used to ascend a Short Bow+7 into the Lava Bow which adds 100 fire damage on top of your physical damage.
