After the defeat of Majin Buu, Goku and Vegeta are able to live peacefully with their families on Planet Namek. However, a new threat arises when the God of Destruction Beerus awakens from his eternal slumber and seeks out a worthy warrior to challenge. Goku transforms into the Super Saiyan God and fights Beerus, but is defeated. Still, his efforts appease Beerus, who decides to spare the Earth.
The God of Destruction Beerus and his Angel assistant and teacher, Whis, have been asleep for decades. Their world is rocked as they seek out a worthy challenger to test their strength and determine whether the Earth is worth saving. Goku, despite being at his weakest, transforms into the Super Saiyan Super Saiyan God and takes on Beerus. Goku loses, but his heroic actions make Beerus a sympathetic character and the two sides settle their dispute.
Despite being more powerful than Goku, Vegeta isn’t given the spotlight as often as his counterpart. Hopefully, this second season of Dragon Ball super will allow him to show off his skills and prove that he deserves the spot as God of Destruction.
