A Review of the New Series Dragons Rioting

Dragons rioting is a Japanese comic book series written and drawn by Tsuyoshi Watanabe. The series is originally published in Japan by Fujimi Shobo and subsequently by Yen Press in the United States and Canada. Watanabe created the manga when he had decided to try his hand at drawing and one of his favorite subjects was dragons. He knew that the subject would not only be interesting for him to draw but also because it is a theme which he has used time and again in his other manga series including Lovecca. Dragons truly are an awesome theme for a comic book and Dragons rioting is no exception.

In this type of manga, a young man named Akira was born with a unique ability to turn into a dragon. He was told that if he ever wishes to take his abilities beyond their realm, he must first become a girl. Akira does this by sleeping under a tarp where he assumed that his human side would be suppressed completely; however, he soon discovers that he could still turn into a dragon. The school, Aogashima, believed that this ability is channeled through clothing and allowed him to use his abilities. Thus, he trained alone in the art of drawing and turned into a powerful healer. However, the girl he fell in love with soon finds out that she too could use the ability to turn herself into a dragon.

As the series progresses, readers will learn more about the back story of both characters and the reason why they were paired together. In addition, we will also learn about their relationship with their friend Ayane, who also possesses the same ability to turn into a dragon. This manga is sure to keep readers engrossed because of its exciting plot. Dragons rioting is sure to become another hit in the world of Japanese manga.
